Governor Evers Promotes Wisconsin Farm Tourism in Onalaska

Governor Evers Promotes Wisconsin Farm Tourism in Onalaska

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers and State Tourism Secretary Anne Sayers visited Rainbow Ridge Farm near Onalaska for the second time in a week. The farm, known for its interactive farm activities and chores, is contributing to the growth of agriculture-related tourism in Wisconsin.

Governor Evers emphasized the importance of understanding the local economy and farmers' efforts while promoting tourism. He stated that the happiness derived from such experiences is a valuable aspect of the tourism industry.

La Crosse County, where Rainbow Ridge Farm is located, consistently ranks among the top ten counties for tourism revenue in Wisconsin. The county benefits from a significant portion of the annual $300 million visitor spending, primarily driven by agriculture-related tourism.

Secretary Sayers highlighted the increasing demand for hands-on farm experiences across the state. Visitors seek opportunities to engage in activities like milking cows, feeding baby goats, and selecting eggs, allowing them to become part of the farm's daily operations.

Governor Evers' previous visit to Onalaska involved filling potholes as part of his civic duties. However, his recent focus on promoting farm tourism showcases the diversification of his engagements in support of Wisconsin's economy and tourism industry.
