A Crawford County beef producer has been appointed by the Wisconsin Cattlemen's Association to represent the state's farmers and their approximately three million cattle on the National Cattlemen's Beef Association Traceability Working Group.
Bob Mitchell of Spring Creeks Cattle Company will serve on the 25-member group, which is tasked with developing a voluntary, nationally significant, globally accepted, electronic animal disease traceability system for all cattle entering commerce.
The panel has been working for several months and is scheduled to complete its work by the NCBA National Convention in February 2023 in New Orleans.
Mitchell is a board member of the Wisconsin Livestock Identification Consortium and previously served on the Cattlemen's Beef Board Executive Committee as co-chair of the Beef Checkoff Safety Committee and an ex-officio of the Wisconsin Beef Council.
