New York Farmer Wins World Forage Superbowl



An entry from New York has been named Grand Champion Forage during the World Forage Analysis Superbowl this week at World Dairy Expo. Herrington Farms Inc. of Troy, New York, was awarded $2,500 for their efforts.

The Grand Champion First-Time Entrant cash award of $2,000 went to Farms of Sterling, Ohio.

In addition, two Quality Counts Awards were presented to Kensinger Farms, Martinsburg, Pennsylvania, for topping the Quality Counts Corn Silage competition. And Legacy Farms, Shell Lake, Wisconsin, was the winner of the Quality Counts Hay/Haylage category.

Other Wisconsin winners included Jenks Jerseys of Marathon, which was selected as grand champion in the area of Baleage; Olson Farms, Lena, placed first in Dairy Hay; Cozy Nook Farm, Waukesha, the top Grass Hay competitor; Todd Mark, Elmwood, was the winner for Alfalfa Haylage; and Egan Family Dairy, Omro, won in Standard Corn Silage.

This year's World Forage Analysis Superbowl had a total of 343 entries.
