Pfaff Announces Candidacy for Kind's House Seat

Wisconsin's newest state senator is already plotting his next political move, just nine months after taking office. Democrat Brad Pfaff of Onalaska, who defeated his GOP challenger Dan Kapanke last November in the 32nd Senate district, announced he will run for the third district Congressional seat being vacated next year by Ron Kind.

Pfaff served as Gov. Tony Evers' agriculture secretary-designee for most of 2019 before the State Senate voted down his confirmation later that year. He is also a former director of the Wisconsin Farm Service Agency under the Obama Administration.

Kind said in August that he has chosen not to run for re-election in 2022 after serving 13 two-year terms in office.

Derrick Van Orden, who unsuccessfully challenged Kind during the last general election, announced he will also run for the U.S. House seat again next year.
