Farmers in certain Midwestern counties who suffered financial loss due to drought conditions this year may be eligible for USDA emergency credit and loss loans. The Farm Service Agency is offering these low-interest loans for areas that went without rain for eight or more consecutive weeks.
The FSA says producers in seven Minnesota counties may apply for emergency loans, along with farmers in contiguous counties, which includes Pierce County in Wisconsin.
Emergency loans can be used to meet various recovery needs including the replacement of essential items such as equipment or livestock, reorganization of a farming operation or the refinance of certain debts. FSA will review the loans based on the extent of losses, security available and repayment ability.
Applications are due May 9, 2023.
