Recognizing Excellence in Wisconsin's Meat Industry: Nominations Open for the 2023 Meat Industry Hall of Fame

Madison Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences, in partnership with the Wisconsin Livestock and Meat Council, is calling for nominations for the prestigious Wisconsin Meat Industry Hall of Fame's 2023 class of inductees. This esteemed honor aims to acknowledge outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to Wisconsin's meat industry. Nominations will be accepted until June 16.

Established in 1993, the Wisconsin Meat Industry Hall of Fame serves as a platform to recognize the achievements of individuals who have positively impacted the state's meat industry. These contributions encompass a wide range of areas, including business ventures, processing innovations, educational initiatives, leadership roles, and other efforts that have influenced the production, distribution, and consumption of meat products in Wisconsin. Previous inductees comprise scientists, policymakers, professors, equipment suppliers, and operators of processing plants, both large and small.

Beyond celebrating the accomplishments of industry leaders, the hall of fame aims to create a comprehensive record of key figures and their achievements, showcasing the pivotal role they have played in shaping Wisconsin's thriving and dynamic meat industry. An overarching objective of the hall of fame is to inspire future generations to pursue exceptional achievements in this field.

The induction ceremony for the Wisconsin Meat Industry Hall of Fame's 2023 class will take place on the evening of November 2, 2023, as part of the Wisconsin Meat Industry Coalition Conference held at the Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells.

Completed nomination forms should be sent to Jeff Swenson at the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, or emailed to jeffrey.swenson@wisconsin.gov.
