On a recent sunny day at the State Fairgrounds in Raleigh, three distinguished individuals were honored with induction into the N.C. State Fair Livestock Hall of Fame.
The ceremony, held on October 27, was presided over by Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler, who emphasized the timeless significance of agriculture to the fair. “Agriculture has always been and will forever remain the heart of the N.C. State Fair,” Troxler noted during the event.
This year’s honorees include Bryan Blinson from Harnett County, recognized in the Commissioner’s Meritorious category for his lifelong commitment to North Carolina agriculture.
Having purchased his first cow at the age of six and shown cattle since 1974, Blinson's influence extends through his leadership at the North Carolina Cattlemen’s Association and his support for youth agriculture programs.
Mike Sauls of Wayne County was celebrated in the Swine category for his three decades of dedicated involvement in the N.C. State Fair Swine Show. His commitment ensures that exhibitors have a rewarding experience from start to finish, with a strong focus on supporting youth participants.
In the Horses category, Libby Gorman Williams of Durham County was honored. A former fair participant turned professional trainer, Williams has been instrumental in promoting both the fair and the horse community in North Carolina, inspiring countless young riders over the years.
With these inductions, the N.C. State Fair Livestock Hall of Fame now includes 185 members, each recognized for their significant contributions to the fair’s livestock shows and the broader agricultural community in North Carolina.
