President recently signed an Executive Order titled Empowering Commonsense Wildfire Prevention and Response.
This action brings together federal agencies to enhance wildfire preparedness through improved land management and technology-driven strategies.
The Executive Order aims to modernize how the country handles wildfires. It emphasizes the use of practical tools and local partnerships to better manage fire-prone lands and avoid destruction. This policy also strengthens emergency actions before and during the wildfire and hurricane season.
Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L. Rollins, along with Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum, applauded the move. “American farmland, forests, and communities have suffered the devastating consequences of slow and inadequate fire response cause by reckless mismanagement and lack of preparedness. President Trump’s suite of executive orders show that this Administration will not sit back and watch the destruction of our forests and property,” said Secretary Rollins.
Top wildland firefighters, including leaders from North Carolina, Montana, and other regions, joined the President at the signing event. Their presence highlights the government’s focus on people at the frontlines of fire control.
Earlier this week, Secretaries Rollins, Burgum, and Noem briefed the President on the nation's readiness. The meeting covered the wildfire season outlook, current situations, resource preparedness, and Canadian fire resource mobilization. Another key topic was boosting timber production and supporting American energy.
