Wisconsin Beef Council Offers Key Role

By Blake Jackson

The Wisconsin Beef Council (WBC), based in Verona, Wisconsin, is hiring a full-time Director of Compliance and Operations. This key position plays an important role in supporting the Council’s mission to grow demand for beef.

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the new Director will manage several responsibilities. These include administering the Beef Checkoff collections and compliance program for the state and overseeing general office duties and communications. They will also organize board and committee meetings, help run the Beef Quality Assurance program and provide contract support to the Wisconsin Cattlemen’s Association. The role may include additional program duties depending on the candidate’s interests.

Applicants should have a post-secondary degree or related work experience. A background in agriculture, especially the cattle industry, is preferred. The ideal candidate should be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities. Strong communication skills and the ability to meet deadlines are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is preferred.

WBC is a non-profit, farmer-led organization funded by the $1-per-head Beef Checkoff on all cattle sold in Wisconsin. Half of these funds stay in the state to support local beef promotion, research, and education. The other half is managed by the national Cattlemen’s Beef Board.

Interested candidates can get the full job description on LinkedIn or by contacting Tammy Vaassen at tvaassen@beeftips.com. Applications including a cover letter, resume, and three professional references should be sent to Tammy Vaassen at the Wisconsin Beef Council by June 16, 2025, at 5 p.m.

This position offers a great opportunity to support Wisconsin’s beef industry and make a positive impact in agriculture.
