The Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation (WFBF) has announced the finalists for its Young Farmer and Agriculturist (YFA) Farming for the Future and Outstanding Agriculture Professional Awards. These awards spotlight exceptional young individuals shaping the future of Wisconsin agriculture.
Each award features four finalists who will compete for top honors at the upcoming WFBF YFA Conference, scheduled for December 5-7 at Kalahari Resorts in Wisconsin Dells.
The Farming for the Future Award celebrates YFA members actively engaged in on-farm production who demonstrate excellence in farm involvement, leadership, and community service, as well as strong future goals. Eligible candidates must earn the majority of their income from farming.
“These finalists represent the next generation of bold, business-minded farmers who are deeply committed to growing Wisconsin agriculture,” said WFBF President Brad Olson. “Their leadership and vision are helping shape the future of farming in our state.”
The four Farming for the Future finalists are:
- Stephanie Abts, Oconto County
- Cosette Henthorne, Vernon County
- Austin Vandertie, Door County
- William Walleser, Vernon County
The Outstanding Agriculture Professional Award honors those working in agriculture-related careers who show strong leadership and community engagement. Finalists in this category earn most of their income from off-farm employment but remain active in promoting agricultural advancement.
“These young professionals are leading with purpose and making a difference far beyond the farm gate,” Olson noted. “Their passion and drive continue to strengthen the future of Wisconsin agriculture.”
Finalists for the Outstanding Agriculture Professional Award include:
- Amy Austin, Green County - Ag & Business Relationship Manager, Lake Ridge Bank
- Savannah Brown, Jackson County - Senior Plant Manager, Land O’ Lakes Animal Milk Solutions
- Kelly Wilfert, Manitowoc County - Farm Law Outreach Specialist, UW-Madison Division of Extension
- Madeline Woodward, Chippewa County - Territory Manager, Pioneer Seed
All finalists will participate in an interview with a panel of judges at the YFA Conference. Winners will receive $1,500 from GROWMARK, Inc., along with several professional development opportunities valued at over $5,000.
