Two of the top animals exhibited at the 55th World Dairy Expo in Madison last week were from America's Dairyland. 'Oakfield Solom Footloose-ET' was named Supreme Champion of the dairy show on Friday. The five-year-old Holstein is owned by Duckett Holsteins, Vierra Dairy and Tim & Sharyn Abbott of Rudolph. She was also the Senior Champion Female and Grand Champion Female in the International Holstein Show last week. As Supreme Champion, Footloose received the Gregory Blaska Memorial Trophy, a $2,000 cash award, a royal blanket and a director's chair.
This year's Reserve Supreme Champion was 'Rivendale VIP Eloise,' a Jersey cow exhibited by Vierra Dairy Farms of Hilmar, California. Her owners were given $1,500 cash for their earnings.
In the Junior Show 'Homeridge T Annette,' a Jersey owned by Budjon, Vail, Cunningham, Powers and K & D Nickels of Lomira, was crowned Supreme Champion; and 'Northkill Creek Groovy,' a Brown Swiss exhibited by Hannah & Mark Balthaser of Bernville, Pennsylvania, was named the Reserve Supreme Champion.
Meanwhile, Joel Phoenix of Cannington, Ontario, Canada, was presented the 31st Klussendorf-MacKenzie Award. And John Erbsen of Lanark, Illinois, was presented the 80th Klussendorf Award, the highest recognition given to a dairy cattle showman in the United States.
Next year's World Dairy Expo will be held October 1-5, 2023 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison.
