The 2025 Cattle Industry Convention recently took place in San Antonio, Texas, bringing together cattle producers from across the country. Wisconsin cattle farmers played an active role in the event, engaging in Beef Checkoff meetings, leadership interviews, and committee discussions. The convention featured updates on Checkoff-funded projects, Beef Quality Assurance forums, consumer market research insights, and board meetings for the Cattlemen’s Beef Board (CBB) and the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA).
Wisconsin farmers were recognized for their contributions to the beef industry. Terry Quam of Lodi was appointed as the Secretary-Treasurer of the Cattlemen’s Beef Board, while Amy Radunz of Ellsworth was elected as Vice President for NCBA’s Region III Federation of State Beef Councils. Additionally, Tammy Wiedenbeck of Lancaster was honoured for completing a three-year term on the CBB.
Several other Wisconsin representatives participated, including Arin Crooks from Lancaster, a CBB board member, and Steve Springer from Linden, who is beginning a three-year term on the board. Wisconsin Beef Council staff members Grace Link and Angie Horkan also attended the event.
Radunz will help guide the Federation of State Beef Councils in strengthening beef demand and fostering collaboration between state and national Checkoff programs. She has been a strong advocate for young cattle producers and currently serves as president of the Wisconsin Beef Council.
“I continue to be amazed by the demand from our consumers for beef despite some of the economic headwinds,” said Radunz. “I am grateful for all those associated with contributing to the success of the Federation and look forward to seeing those investments continue to build on this success.”
As part of the newly elected leadership team for the Cattlemen’s Beef Board, Quam will help oversee the administration of the national Checkoff program, which funds beef promotion and research efforts. He operates Marda Angus Farms in Lodi, a family-run business known for producing high-quality Angus cattle.
Quam has been actively involved in agriculture leadership roles, including the Wisconsin Beef Council, NCBA, and local farm organizations. His leadership will help shape the direction of the Beef Checkoff program in 2025.
