Wisconsin Students Selected for Jersey Youth Academy

The American Jersey Cattle Association has announced the 31-member class for its seventh national Jersey Youth Academy, in which three Wisconsin students have been chosen to be part of the program.

Sophie Larson, attending Reedsburg Area High School; Maleah Sickinger, studying at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls; and Emma Vos, Manitowoc Lutheran High School will participate in the training from July 11-16 in Columbus, Ohio.

AJCA President Jonathan Merriam says the students exemplify the many talented, interested Jersey youth in the country that may want to consider the Jersey dairy business as a full-time career.

"These young people from 15 states selected for this class exemplify the many talented, interested Jersey youth across the United States that our organization wants to encourage to pursue careers in the Jersey dairy business," Merriam said. "Continuing the impact of the national Jersey youth programs offered by the association."

Selection was based on merit, motivation and preparation for the program as reflected in the written application and goal statement. All program costs, including round-trip transportation for participants, will be paid by the Academy.
