The esteemed World Championship Cheese Contest is gearing up for its next edition, set to take place March 5-7 in Madison, Wisconsin. This prestigious event, hosted by the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association (WCMA), boasts the title of the world's largest technical dairy product evaluation.
This year, over 50 cheese experts from 19 countries and 11 US states will gather to meticulously assess thousands of cheeses, butter, yogurt, and dry dairy entries. These discerning judges include cheese graders, buyers, dairy science professors, and researchers, each bringing their unique expertise to the table.
Leading the pack are the esteemed members of the Contest's leadership team, comprising nine seasoned dairy professionals. Under the guidance of Chief Judge Jim Mueller, they will ensure a smooth and meticulous judging process.
Cheese enthusiasts can witness the magic firsthand by attending the preliminary rounds, open to the public on March 5 and 6 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. For those unable to attend in person, the grand unveiling of the World Champion Cheese will be livestreamed on March 7th at 2:00 PM (CT) – don't miss the chance to see which cheese emerges victorious!
This biennial competition, held since 1957, is a true testament to the world's love for cheese. In 2022, the coveted title went to Gourmino Le Gruyère, a Swiss masterpiece scoring an impressive 98.423 out of 100. Who will take home the crown this year? Tune in and find out!
