Apply Now for Farm to School Advisory Council Seat

By Blake Jackson

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) is currently accepting nominations for a seat on the Farm to School Advisory Council.

Nominations will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. on May 15, 2025. This opportunity is for an at-large position, and members serve three-year terms. The council convenes at least four times annually to advise on farm to school initiatives across the state.

Interested individuals can submit nominations via the online form, with additional details available on the DATCP website at https://datcp.wi.gov/Pages/AgDevelopment/FarmToSchool.aspx.

Nominations and inquiries can be directed to April Yancer, DATCP Farm to School and Institution Specialist, by phone at (608) 224-5017 or via email at april.yancer@wisconsin.gov.

The Farm to School Advisory Council plays a critical role in shaping Wisconsin’s farm to school efforts. The council’s 15 members provide key recommendations to the DATCP Secretary and produce an annual report to the Wisconsin legislature.

The council includes a diverse range of perspectives from professionals in agriculture, education, child health, and school food services.

Membership consists of one representative each from DATCP, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS), and the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI).

The remaining 12 members include farmers, child health experts, and school food service personnel, all appointed by the DATCP Secretary. The newly appointed member will begin their term at the summer 2025 Farm to School meeting.
