The Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation has launched the Heroes of Hope campaign as part of its Farm Neighbors Care initiative. The campaign recognizes individuals who have made a positive impact on mental health within their community, particularly in the agricultural sector. Farmers and rural residents are encouraged to nominate their neighbors who have helped them through tough times, either through small acts of kindness or major contributions. The campaign aims to identify rural heroes who have provided support and hope to farmers and businesses during difficult seasons.
Five heroes will be chosen to receive generous prize packages from sponsors, and their stories will be featured in WFBF's Rural Route magazine. The winners will be announced on May 31, and nominations will be accepted until May 19. The Farm Neighbors Care initiative was created in 2019 to raise awareness of mental health issues in the farming community. The campaign urges rural residents to check in with their neighbors, especially farmers and agri-business owners, to provide support and positivity.
According to Bradley Uken, WFBF's Chief Administrative Officer, the Heroes of Hope campaign celebrates the impact of rural neighbors on and off the farm. The campaign recognizes those who have helped farmers and businesses in both ordinary and extraordinary ways. With the Farm Neighbors Care campaign, the WFBF aims to start conversations about mental health and create a supportive network in the agricultural sector. The Heroes of Hope campaign is a way to honor those who have contributed to this important cause.
