EDPR NA partners with FFA to empower future agricultural leaders

By Jamie Martin

EDP Renewables North America (EDPR NA) has announced a strategic partnership with the National FFA Organization (FFA) to bolster educational opportunities in agriculture and renewable energy.

As one of the top renewable energy developers in the U.S., EDPR NA aims to support FFA’s mission of preparing young leaders through hands-on agricultural education.

The partnership designates EDPR NA as a Five Star Partner for FFA in 2024, focusing on enhancing the Local Engagement Program.

This initiative provides financial assistance to FFA chapters nationwide, enabling them to acquire new equipment and participate in educational experiences that support career development in environmental science, leadership, and more.

Scott Stump, CEO of the National FFA Organization/Foundation, emphasized the significance of EDPR NA’s support in preparing students for the evolving agricultural landscape.

The collaboration includes backing for AgExplorer.com’s Work Force Development resources, helping students explore careers and develop essential skills for the renewable energy sector.

Sandhya Ganapathy, CEO of EDPR NA, highlighted the alignment of values between EDPR NA and FFA in cultivating sustainable leadership.

The partnership also includes funding for Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) Grants, focusing on biotechnology, environmental science, and natural resources systems.

These grants empower students to undertake hands-on projects that foster personal growth and career readiness.

In addition to supporting STEM education through FFA, EDPR NA engages in various educational initiatives like KidWind and REpowering Schools, aiming to promote environmental literacy and renewable energy awareness among K-12 students.

Through these efforts, EDPR NA and FFA are paving the way for the next generation of agricultural leaders equipped to meet the challenges of a sustainable future.
