Explore Hub Research at Dairy Symposium

By Blake Jackson

The Dairy Symposium is set to take place on May 14 at Memorial Union, UW–Madison. This exciting event promises a full day of data-rich research presentations, discussions, and networking opportunities for academic colleagues, students, and trainees from the three participating campuses.

Funded by the Hub, this research event is free and open to the public, but pre-registration is required to attend. The day begins with registration, a continental breakfast, and poster sessions at 8:00 a.m. Sessions officially kick off at 8:45 a.m. with a morning plenary session led by Mike Brown, Vice President for Dairy Market Intelligence at T. C. Jacoby & Company, Inc.

Participants can explore various breakout sessions and poster presentations throughout the morning and afternoon. A special lunch session at 12:00 p.m. allows attendees to continue engaging with presenters and their research projects.

A major highlight of the day is the afternoon panel session at 3:00 p.m., titled "Dairy Soil & Water Regeneration." This session will showcase a collaborative approach to building soil health, reducing greenhouse gases, improving water quality, and creating new economic benefits. Esteemed panelists include Gregg Sanford from UW–Madison, Dennis Busch from UW–Platteville, Reza Afshar from Dairy Management Inc., Cristine Morgan from the Soil Health Institute, and Joshua Faulkner from the University of Vermont.

The day concludes with flash talks, additional poster viewing, a cocktail reception at 4:00 p.m., and adjournment at 5:30 p.m.
