Farm Bureau members to lead committees

Farm Bureau members to lead committees

By Jamie Martin

Farm Bureau farmer and rancher members significantly impact their communities by serving on various governing boards and committees. In 2025, new members will join the American Farm Bureau Federation’s Promotion & Education (P&E) and Young Farmers & Ranchers (YF&R) committees, contributing fresh perspectives and driving agricultural progress.

AFBF President Zippy Duvall emphasized the importance of grassroots leadership, stating, “As these newly appointed national program committee members focus on advancing the mission of the American Farm Bureau, they will bring positive change and new ideas.”

For the 2025-2027 term starting in March, P&E Committee appointees include Amy Mitchell (Idaho), Cindy Durheim (Minnesota), and Lacey Branson (Utah).

Reappointed members are Heidi Cooper (Massachusetts), Nate Schlief (North Dakota), and Lynn Leahy (Wisconsin). The P&E Committee works to connect farmers with consumers, bridging the gap between the farm and the table.

The YF&R Committee, comprising representatives from across the U.S., focuses on youth engagement and agricultural advocacy.

Newly appointed members for 2025 include Cleveland Jackson (Georgia), Rachel Duncan (Louisiana), and Dustin and Katie Wiese (Minnesota), among others. This committee organizes events such as the Harvest for All program and competitive events during AFBF’s annual convention.

Committee members are nominated by state Farm Bureaus and play a vital role in shaping programs that support agriculture and rural communities.
