Four Award Winners Celebrated by Wisconsin Pork Group

By Blake Jackson

The Wisconsin Pork Association (WPA) honored four leaders for their exceptional contributions to the pork sector during its annual meeting on January 29, 2026, held alongside the Wisconsin Corn Soy Expo in Wisconsin Dells.

  • The Distinguished Service Producer Award was presented to the Scott Wilson Family of Burlington. A fifth-generation farming family, Scott Wilson and his children - Alex, Anna, and Amber - operate Prairie View Farms, Wisconsin’s only SPF-certified hog operation, maintaining herds that are rigorously tested and disease-free. The farm produces much of its own feed and markets breeding stock across the country. The family expanded its business in 2004 by acquiring a local processing facility, now known as Wilson Farm Meats, where they sell their pork and other locally sourced meats. Known for innovation in herd health and production efficiency, the Wilson family remains deeply involved in WPA activities and outreach.
  • The Distinguished Service Industry Award went to Bob Suprley of Linden. A longtime WPA member, sponsor, and former board director, Suprley has played a key role in supporting association programs and policy efforts. Through his work with Big Gain, he assists producers in improving performance and solving operational challenges, earning a reputation as a dependable and supportive industry partner.
  • The Agri-Communicator Award recognized Bill Gnatzig of Roberts for his dedication to agricultural storytelling and advocacy. With a background in ag journalism and military service, Gnatzig has worked with national livestock publications and previously managed a 500-head hog farm. Gnatzig has served on the WPA board and participated in multiple leadership and outreach programs while continuing to promote agriculture through his business and community involvement.
  • The Friend of the Industry Award was awarded to John Lader of Janesville. With experience in production, feed, and agricultural banking, Lader is a past WPA director and legislative committee chair who has led advocacy efforts and supported youth and membership initiatives, helping strengthen Wisconsin’s pork industry.
