If you’re considering diversifying your farm with berries, honeyberries also known as haskaps are an emerging crop gaining attention in the Upper Midwest.
To help producers learn more about this crop, a free virtual event will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026, from 12 to 1 p.m. The session is part of the Ag - Emerging Crops program and focuses on crops and soils. Registration is required to attend.
The event will feature Andrew Rosychuk, one of North America’s earliest haskap growers. Andrew manages 37 acres of haskaps at Rosy Farms in Alcomdale, Alberta, Canada, which also serves as a center for research and apprenticeships. He is the founder of the Haskap Alberta Association and co-founder of Vitalaberry Farms, a collective of nine growers marketing haskaps across Canada.
During the session, Andrew will share best management practices for haskap production, including strategies for post-harvest handling, storage, and value-added processing. Attendees will gain insights from his extensive experience in growing, marketing, and processing this unique berry crop.
The event is open to producers across multiple counties in Wisconsin and provides a valuable opportunity to explore an innovative crop option. For more information or to register, participants are encouraged to secure their spot online.
