The University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Extension is offering a free virtual training session designed to help rural community members support one another’s mental health.
Scheduled for Tuesday, June 24, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the session introduces participants to the COMET program Changing Our Mental and Emotional Trajectory.
COMET is especially valuable for those in farming communities who are often the first to notice when someone is struggling but may not know how to respond.
This training equips individuals to take the next step with confidence, using a simple seven-question conversation guide to start supportive and potentially emotional discussions.
It’s not about solving mental health problems but about being ready and willing to listen and help connect others to resources before a crisis occurs.
This no-cost virtual session is open to individuals across Wisconsin, with registration required in advance. It is part of ongoing efforts to promote mental well-being and reduce stigma around mental health challenges, particularly in agricultural communities.
The event is relevant to farm management, health, and wellness and welcomes participants from all Wisconsin counties. For more information or to register, contact Katie Daul at 920-834-6845 or email katie.daul@wisc.edu. Don’t miss this opportunity to make a difference in your community.
