More Awards Available Through WROF Scholarship Program

Exciting new changes this year are made to the Wisconsin Rural Opportunities Foundation's Premier Scholarship Awards Program, with the addition of five awards to be presented to the top qualifying runners-up. Together with the Premier Scholarship Award, this is a total investment of $13,000 in students from rural Wisconsin by the Wisconsin Rural Opportunities Foundation (WROF). Sustaining vitality in rural Wisconsin is the WROF's mission and they hope this scholarship program will help young people from rural Wisconsin gain knowledge and new skills to bring back to their rural roots in Wisconsin and help communities in rural Wisconsin thrive.

The WROF Premier Scholarship Award Program will be presented to six high school seniors who have lived in rural Wisconsin for at least two years, are each attending a public or private school in Wisconsin, are pursuing post-secondary education, and have plans to return to rural Wisconsin upon graduation. "Rural" is defined as traditional rural areas and rural towns with a population of 25,000 or fewer.

An award of $5,000 will be presented to the selected Premier Scholar.

Two awards, each $2,500, will be presented to the top two runners-up for the Premier Scholarship.

Three awards, each $1,000, will be presented to the next three runners-up for the Premier Scholarship.

Finalists will be selected by an ad hoc committee.

Applications will be accepted until March 1. Only online application form submissions will be accepted at www.wrof.org/scholarships/wrof-premier-scholarship-application. The awards will support tuition only, with up to half the total award amount awarded per semester, for any post-high school experience in Wisconsin if a 2.5 GPA is maintained.

Finalists will be announced in April.
