The American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) recently announced the 12th installment of its Partners in Advocacy Leadership (PAL) program, aimed at enhancing the advocacy skills of agricultural leaders. This program is designed to prepare participants for effective advocacy at local, state, and national levels, addressing issues crucial to the agricultural sector and rural areas.
The latest PAL class comprises ten members from diverse agricultural backgrounds across the U.S., including Magen Allen from Arkansas and Jon Iverson from Oregon. These individuals were chosen for their demonstrated leadership within their communities and their potential to further agricultural advocacy.
PAL's curriculum includes four intensive modules that cover a range of topics from policy making to media relations. Each module is crafted to build on the previous one, providing a comprehensive learning experience over two years. Participants will engage in hands-on training sessions designed to enhance their skills in effective communication, leadership, and policy advocacy.
The program, sponsored by prominent organizations such as Syngenta, Farm Credit, and Merck Animal Health, reflects AFBF's commitment to fostering a new generation of advocates who can represent agricultural interests adeptly.
Zippy Duvall, President of AFBF, emphasized the importance of the PAL program in preparing leaders to navigate and influence policy that impacts agriculture and rural communities effectively. Upon completion, graduates of the PAL program are expected to emerge as confident and skilled advocates, ready to take on challenges and opportunities within the agricultural policy arena.
