The Professional Dairy Producers (PDP) 2025 Business Conference held March 12-13 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wisconsin, will equip dairy producers with crucial financial and business strategies for navigating volatile markets.
This event offers two days of learning and networking, with sessions simultaneously translated into Spanish and specialized workshops for 15- to 18-year-olds focusing on leadership and communication skills.
The conference delves into various aspects of farm management, from succession planning and tax strategies to milk pricing and electronic data management. "The hidden ally: turn interest rates into growth opportunities" features a panel discussion with experts like Elsa Condon and Dan Kaufman, exploring how to leverage market conditions for business growth.
Marissa Nehlsen will lead sessions on "Build bulletproof succession and transition plans" and "Master your core with tax, legal and wealth strategies," providing tools and systems to navigate legal and tax challenges and protect wealth for future generations.
An international panel, including Thibaut Cordel and David Hyland, will share insights on "Global dairying: Insights from Ireland, France and the Netherlands," discussing strategies for success in a global market.
"Strategically plan your life, family and farm" will feature an interactive SWOT analysis, while David Hyland will offer a glimpse into Irish dairy farming in "Farming in Ireland: A global perspective." Bill Oemichen will address the critical issue of data ownership in "Do farmers actually own and control electronic data provided to suppliers through smart devices?"
The 2025 Preview Stage will feature sessions on financial analysis and on-farm profitability. Lynn Oltof will present "Modeling a path forward for expanding U.S. dairy farms," and Dr. Chuck Nicholson and Jalyssa Beaudry will discuss "Profitability of automated milking systems and labor implications for Wisconsin dairy farms." Nicholson and Jack Myers will also present "Analytical tools for assessing changes to milk pricing under FMMOs."
The Nexus Stage will showcase cutting-edge technologies from companies like Bankbarn, CowManager, and Dairy Nutrient Reclamation. These presentations, akin to "Shark Tank" and TED Talks," will highlight innovations transforming the dairy industry.
