Calling all young farmers in Barron and Polk Counties! Want to learn the ropes of safe tractor operation? The Tractor Safety Certification Program is back this June, offering a four-day intensive course designed for youth aged 12-15.
This program equips teenagers with the knowledge and skills to handle tractors responsibly. Whether you're planning to help on the family farm or looking for future farm employment opportunities, this certification is key. The curriculum combines classroom learning with practical exercises, ensuring participants grasp both the theory and practical application of safe tractor operation.
Over four days, participants will receive 24 hours of instruction covering topics like hazard identification and risk reduction strategies. The highlight of the program is the hands-on component, where young people get behind the wheel and put their knowledge to the test. They'll gain valuable experience maneuvering a tractor and farm implements through an obstacle course, preparing them for real-world scenarios.
To earn their Tractor Safety Certification, participants must be at least 12 years old, complete all 24 hours of training, pass a written exam, and demonstrate their safe driving skills in the practical exam.
Don't miss this chance to gain valuable skills and pave the way for your future in agriculture! The program runs from June 17th to 20th at Barron High School and costs only $20. For more information and registration details, contact the Barron County Extension Office.
