The Wisconsin Women in Conservation (WiWiC) invites women landowners, farmers, and conservation professionals to their Spring Learning Circle on Tuesday, May 7th, 2024. This free event, held at the MacKenzie Nature Center, will focus on "Spring into Conservation: Secrets of Soil Health."
Regardless of experience or land size, this program is designed to empower women in the agricultural and land management fields. Participants will gain valuable knowledge on practical conservation techniques for improving soil quality and water conservation in their gardens or farms. Through presentations and an interactive Rainfall Simulator demonstration, attendees will learn how different land management practices directly affect soil health and overall sustainability.
WiWiC recognizes the importance of fostering connections and knowledge exchange. The program will feature local conservation professionals who can answer questions and provide information on available financial assistance programs to support the implementation of conservation projects on private lands.
Beyond technical knowledge, the Spring Learning Circle offers a unique opportunity for women to network with peers and established professionals. Attendees will have the chance to meet WiWiC Conservation Coaches – experienced women farmers who serve as mentors and hosts for educational farm tours.
"WiWiC provides a platform for women to connect, share experiences, and support one another's goals," says Erin Schneider, a WiWiC Conservation Coach specializing in organic perennials. "By fostering understanding of the interconnectedness between people and the land they manage, we can collectively contribute to a more sustainable future."
This Spring Learning Circle marks the launch of a new WiWiC network focused on Sauk, Columbia, and Green Lake Counties. This initiative reflects the organization's ongoing commitment to empower women across Wisconsin and equip them with the knowledge and resources necessary to become responsible stewards of the land.
The Wisconsin Women in Conservation offers a comprehensive suite of resources for women dedicated to land management and sustainable practices. By participating in events like the Spring Learning Circle, women can gain valuable knowledge, build networks, and be inspired by a community passionate about conservation.
We encourage all women land stewards and conservation professionals to register for this informative and empowering event. The event is free but pre-registration is necessary, for planning purposes, at WiWiC.org/upcoming-events.
