USDA offers aid to farmers hit by hurricane beryl

By Jamie Martin

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has stepped up to offer crucial assistance to farmers and livestock producers affected by Hurricane Beryl.

This initiative aims to mitigate the damage from the storm, offering various recovery programs tailored to the needs of the agriculture community.

Affected individuals are encouraged to visit their local USDA Service Center to report their losses and explore the assistance programs available.

These programs include the Livestock Indemnity Program (LIP), Emergency Assistance for Livestock, Honeybees, and Farm-Raised Fish, the Tree Assistance Program (TAP), and the Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP). Additionally, the Farm Service Agency (FSA) provides both direct and guaranteed farm loans to aid those unable to secure commercial financing.

These loans are especially designed to assist producers in recovering from production and physical losses, helping them replace essential property, purchase necessary supplies like livestock, equipment, and feed, and even cover living expenses or refinance farm-related debts.

Loan servicing options are also available for borrowers facing challenges in meeting scheduled payments due to unforeseen circumstances.
