VITAL program for women in agriculture

VITAL program for women in agriculture

By Blake Jackson

Calling all Wisconsin women in agriculture! The Eastern Wisconsin Extension Women in Agriculture Program is returning on Thursday, April 4th, for a day of learning, networking, and empowerment.

The event, titled VITAL-Valuably Informed Thriving Agriculture Leader, will be held at the Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center near Manitowoc, a state-of-the-art facility showcasing sustainable farming practices (7001 Gass Lake Road).

Designed to support women in agricultural roles, the program offers valuable resources and creates a network of peers facing similar challenges. The agenda is packed with informative sessions, from financial decision-making and bovine health to artificial intelligence applications in dairy farming.

Financial expert Corey Geiger from CoBank will discuss the impact of milk production on farm income, while a panel of experienced dairywomen (Katie Grinstead, Katy Katzman, and Katy Schultz) will share their insights on employee empowerment strategies. Dr. Lindley Reilly, DVM, will also provide a session on navigating zoonotic risks and enhancing farm safety.

This "day away from the farm is a great opportunity to connect with like-minded women and gain valuable knowledge. The registration fee is $30 per person before March 28th and increases to $35 after that. The fee includes meals, breaks, and program materials.

Don't miss this chance to learn, connect, and be inspired! Click the link below for the agenda and registration information. You can register by contacting Extension Manitowoc County at 920.683.4183 or visiting online https://GO.WISC.EDU/VITAL24AGENDA.
