The Wisconsin Youth Tractor and Machinery Safety Certification Program continued to expand its reach in 2025, reinforcing its mission to prepare young people for safe equipment operation in agricultural settings.
This year, 36 training courses were offered statewide, including six new locations designed to improve access for farming communities. More than 750 youth earned certification, contributing to over 18,000 hours of hands-on instruction.
The numbers reflect steady growth from 2024, when just over 700 youth completed the program. Organizers credit the dedication of instructors and local partners for ensuring that young agricultural workers gain the critical safety skills needed on farms.
Families continue to rely on the Youth Tractor Safety website, hosted by the UW-Madison Division of Extension, as a central hub for training information. In 2025, the site attracted 2,677 unique visitors and logged 8,359 page views, demonstrating consistent interest in youth tractor safety.
The site provides a chronological list of course offerings and features an interactive map to help families locate nearby opportunities.
Extension officials note that the website only lists programs shared directly with UW-Madison, meaning actual course numbers and certifications could be higher.
Most trainings are scheduled in spring and early summer, with updates posted regularly through the Extension Farm Management Topic Hub.
