The Wisconsin Farm Bureau has revealed the finalists for the prestigious Young Farmer and Agriculturist (YFA) Farming for the Future Award and Outstanding Ag Professional Award for 2023. These awards recognize the exceptional achievements and contributions of young individuals in Wisconsin's farming and agricultural sectors.
Four finalists have been selected for the Farming for the Future Award, which honors YFA members who demonstrate excellence in farm involvement, leadership abilities, future goals, and participation in Farm Bureau and other organizations. These finalists include Jacob and Eliza Bobolz from Rock County, Sydney Flick from Columbia County, Brad Laack from Sheboygan County, and Victoria Wachholz from Marquette County.
In addition, four individuals have been chosen as finalists for the Outstanding Ag Professional Award. This accolade recognizes young agriculturists who excel in leadership, agricultural involvement, and participation in Farm Bureau and other civic and service organizations.
The finalists for this category are Kaitlyn Riley, Director of Communications and Outreach for the Wisconsin Beef Council; Julie Sweney, Executive Director of the Wisconsin Livestock Identification Consortium; Brooke Trustem, Marketing & Events Coordinator at BouMatic; and Tammy Wiedenbeck, Senior Brand Manager for Hilbert Communications, Bug Tussel Wireless, and AT&T Subsidiaries.
Each finalist will undergo an interview during the 2023 WFBF Annual Meeting and YFA Conference in Wisconsin Dells. The winners of each award will receive a $1,500 prize courtesy of GROWMARK, Inc.
They will also attend the 2024 American Farm Bureau Federation YF&R Conference in Omaha, NE, participate in the 2025 YFA Washington, D.C. Fly-In, and be honored guests at the 2024 YFA Conference. These awards are co-sponsored by the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Foundation, GROWMARK Inc., and Rural Mutual Insurance Company.
The YFA awards aim to highlight the remarkable contributions of Wisconsin's young farmers and agricultural professionals, inspiring others to make a positive impact in the field.
