Wisconsin Farm Bureau Sets 2023 Farm Bill Priorities

Wisconsin Farm Bureau Sets 2023 Farm Bill Priorities

The Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation (WFBF) has unveiled its top priorities for the upcoming 2023 farm bill. With dairy, crop insurance, and conservation funding at the forefront, farmers across the state are seeking support to navigate market volatility, rising input costs, and supply chain disruptions.

Following extensive deliberations by the farm bill working group, which commenced in November, over two dozen recommendations have been generated for consideration by legislative leaders during the farm bill discussions. WFBF President Kevin Krentz emphasized the immense challenges faced by Wisconsin farmers since the enactment of the 2018 farm bill. Nevertheless, he commended their unwavering commitment to producing high-quality goods that sustain rural communities statewide.

The WFBF Board of Directors unanimously approved the recommendations, which will now be presented to Congressional representatives in Washington, D.C. over the next few months. The WFBF eagerly anticipates collaborating with Wisconsin's lawmakers to effect meaningful improvements to the farm bill, fostering a favorable environment for agricultural practitioners.

As the largest general farm organization in the state, the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation represents farms of diverse sizes, commodities, and management styles. Its concerted efforts aim to address the pressing needs of farmers, ensuring their resilience and continued contribution to rural communities.
