Sauk County is gearing up to host the prestigious Wisconsin Farm Technology Days (WFTD) from July 18 to 20, 2023, marking a significant milestone in the event's history. For the first time since its inception in 1954, the renowned farm show will not be held on a farm but will take place at the Badger Steam and Gas Engine Club Grounds near Baraboo, Wis.
WFTD, formerly known as Wisconsin Farm Progress Days, has been renamed Wisconsin Farm Technology Days for the past two decades, reflecting the evolving agricultural landscape. The move to Sauk County offers a fresh setting for the event, which rotates among counties annually.
This year's WFTD promises a wealth of attractions for visitors of all ages. The expansive Tent City will house between 450 and 500 exhibitors, showcasing the latest agricultural innovations and equipment. Although there won't be field demonstrations, attendees can explore the machinery display presented by various dealers.
Food enthusiasts will have a treat as 12 local food and beverage trucks offer a diverse range of culinary delights. With designated North and South Food Areas, attendees can savor a wide variety of meals and refreshments throughout the show.
Six immersive tours to nearby farms, ag businesses, and organizations are scheduled, providing valuable insights into different facets of agriculture. Spaces for the tours are limited, and advance sign-up is required through the official website.
Additional highlights include appearances by Wisconsin's 76th Alice in Dairyland Ashley Hagenow, a Chevrolet electric pickup truck in the Ride and Drive area, a stunning 10-horse hitch performance by Meyer Farms Belgians, educational drone demonstrations, and engaging presentations by comedian Scott Long on the Rural Insurance Rural Event Mainstage.
With opportunities for youth to explore agricultural careers and learn about farm safety, the 2023 Wisconsin Farm Technology Days is set to be a memorable and educational experience for all. Admission is priced at $10 in cash or $12 via credit for adults and individuals aged 13 and above, while children 12 and under enter free of charge.
