Wisconsin Farmers Union (WFU) will host its annual Farm and Rural Lobby Day in Madison on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, bringing together family farmers and rural advocates from across the state to engage directly with lawmakers.
The event will focus on policy priorities established by WFU’s grassroots membership during the organization’s 95th Annual State Convention held in December.
This year’s legislative priorities include dairy policy, access to quality healthcare in Wisconsin, immigration reform, agricultural consolidation, rural development, and conservation and stewardship. These issues reflect the concerns facing farm families and rural communities statewide.
WFU Government Relations Director Michelle Ramirez-White is urging members to participate and ensure rural voices are heard at the Capitol.
“Now, more than ever, we need the voices of our Wisconsin family farmers in the call for policy change,” Ramirez-White said. “When we come together our voices are stronger, and our annual Farm and Rural Lobby Day is a perfect example of that.”
The day will begin at 10 a.m. at the Madison Public Library’s Central Location, 201 W. Mifflin Street, near Capitol Square. Participants will hear from legislators and partner organizations who will provide updates on relevant legislation and help attendees prepare for meetings. After lunch, the group will head to the Capitol to meet with senators and representatives, with activities concluding around 4 p.m.
Participation is free and open to all WFU members. Those interested in attending are encouraged to register early so meetings can be scheduled in advance. Non-members can join WFU online prior to registering.
