Wisconsin Pork Association Awards Outstanding Leaders

The Wisconsin Pork Association (WPA) recognized four outstanding individuals for their contributions to the state's pork industry during its annual meeting, held on February 6th in conjunction with the Wisconsin Corn Soy Expo in Wisconsin Dells, WI.

Distinguished Service Producer Honoree - Alicia Prill-Adams, Platteville, WI

Alicia Prill-Adams, manager of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Swine Center, was awarded the Distinguished Service Producer Award for her exceptional work in Wisconsin's pork industry.

Alicia Prill-Adams role at the Swine Center offers students valuable hands-on experience in pork production, and she also teaches animal science classes and supervises students and staff.

In addition to her dedication to education, Alicia serves on the WPA Board of Directors. She also manages a beef cattle operation with her family.

Distinguished Service Industry Honoree - Jim Quackenbush (Posthumous), Minitube USA

The late Jim Quackenbush, who worked for Minitube USA as a sow production consultant, was honored posthumously with the Distinguished Service Industry Award.

Jim dedicated much of his life to improving the U.S. pork industry, serving on various pork producer boards across multiple states.

He became deeply involved with WPA after moving to Wisconsin in 2017. Jim’s leadership and dedication to the industry left a lasting impact, and his legacy continues to inspire.

Agri-Communicator Award - Bob Middendorf, WGLR

Bob Middendorf, Farm Director at WGLR Radio since 1998, received the Agri-Communicator Award for his efforts to share the stories of Wisconsin’s agricultural industry.

Through his daily Southwest Tech Farm Show, Bob interviews farmers and public officials, promoting agriculture and the pork industry to listeners throughout the state.

Friend of the Industry Award - Representative Travis Tranel

State Representative Travis Tranel was recognized with the Friend of the Industry Award for his long-standing commitment to Wisconsin’s agricultural community.

As chair of the Assembly Agriculture Committee, Representative Tranel has been a driving force behind initiatives like the Agricultural Road Improvement Program (ARIP), which provides funding to improve vital agricultural road infrastructure. He continues to advocate for farmers across the state.

These four individuals were celebrated for their exceptional dedication and service to the Wisconsin pork industry.
