DATCP Secretary Celebrates Agricultural Achievements at the Capitol

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection (DATCP) Secretary, Randy Romanski, recently highlighted the state's agricultural successes during Ag Day at the Capitol. The event recognized the hard work and dedication of Wisconsin farmers, who contribute significantly to the state's economy.

Secretary Romanski praised the farmers' efforts towards sustainability, which have helped preserve the environment while maintaining profitability. He also acknowledged their role in producing high-quality, nutritious food for local and global markets.

Wisconsin farmers have embraced new technologies and best practices, resulting in increased productivity and efficiency. For instance, the state's dairy industry has adopted new milking systems and genetics, leading to better milk production and quality. The use of precision agriculture has also helped farmers optimize crop yields and reduce input costs.

The DATCP Secretary also noted the critical role played by agriculture in the state's economy, contributing over $105 billion annually and supporting over 435,000 jobs. The industry has been able to weather the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, thanks to the resilience and adaptability of farmers and agribusinesses.

Overall, Ag Day at the Capitol was a celebration of Wisconsin's agricultural achievements and the people behind them. The event highlighted the importance of supporting farmers and promoting sustainable agriculture practices, ensuring a vibrant and prosperous future for the state's agricultural sector.
