Farm Credit Canada funds 82 community projects

By Jamie Martin

Farm Credit Canada (FCC) continues its commitment to bolstering rural communities by disbursing $1.5 million through the FCC AgriSpirit Fund. This funding initiative supports 82 community groups nationwide, facilitating the development of local capital projects that aim to enhance rural living.

Justine Hendricks, FCC's president and CEO, expressed pride in the organization's role in fostering rural growth and improving life quality in these areas. This year's grants ranged from $10,000 to $25,000, targeting vital community improvement projects from food security enhancements to the development of communal spaces.

Since its inception 21 years ago, the FCC AgriSpirit Fund has played a pivotal role in rural community development, contributing $22.5 million to 1,697 projects. These initiatives demonstrate the ingenuity and commitment of rural Canadians dedicated to enhancing their communities.

Eligible groups including registered charities, non-profit organizations, municipalities, and Indigenous governments can obtain more information about the funding, check eligibility criteria, and apply online at www.fccagrispiritfund.ca. The website also features a showcase of previously supported projects, offering inspiration and insights into the fund’s impact.
