The Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin says another group of speakers are set to take part in the online Dairy Signal program this week.
On Tuesday, Dr. Maria Jose Fuenzalida, PhD with Pathway Preclinical Services will cover the basics on mastitis prevention and management by focusing on the bacteria that causes this disease, and the environmental conditions that allow them to thrive.
University of Minnesota Professor Dr. Marcia Endres will join UW-Madison Professor Dr. Doug Reinemann on Wednesday to talk about the impact that milking parlor equipment and management have on animal wellbeing, including the amount of time cows should spend in the parlor and what happens if they are there too long. They will also cover potential solutions to parlor equipment challenges.
And on Thursday, tune in for a dairy producer panel on parlor management focused on key questions like parlor staffing, scheduling, systems and equipment and parlor design. The guests will be Rick Roden of Roden Echo Valley and Zoey Nelson from Brooks Farm
All episodes are free and available to the public, accessible from www.pdpw.org. They are streamed live at 12:00 noon or available on demand for later playback.
