Protect Wisconsin ash trees - free EAB webinar

By Blake Jackson

Wisconsin residents concerned about the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) can join a free online program offered by the UW-Madison Extension and Insect Diagnostic Lab. This informative session, held on April 1st from 1-2 pm via Zoom, equips participants with the knowledge and resources to tackle this invasive beetle threatening ash trees throughout the state.

The webinar delves into several key areas. Participants will gain the ability to identify ash trees, a crucial first step in protecting these valuable species. They'll also learn to recognize the telltale signs and symptoms of EAB infestation, allowing for early detection and intervention.

Furthermore, the program explores the biology of the EAB, providing a deeper understanding of this destructive insect. This knowledge is essential for implementing effective control strategies.

But the program doesn't stop at identification and education. It also offers practical guidance on what property owners can do when faced with EAB on their land. The session will explore various management options, outlining their strengths and weaknesses, so participants can make informed decisions about protecting their ash trees.

Led by PJ Liesch, a renowned Extension Entomologist and director of the UW Insect Diagnostic Lab, the program promises to be informative and engaging. It features a comprehensive presentation followed by a live Q&A segment, allowing participants to address any lingering questions or concerns.

Don't miss this valuable opportunity to safeguard Wisconsin's ash trees. Registration is quick and easy at go.wisc.edu/ExtEAB. As an added benefit, all registrants will receive a recording of the webinar for future reference.
