The Wisconsin FFA Association has a new president. Ben Styer of the Menomonie FFA Chapter was elected during the closing session of the 92nd Wisconsin FFA Convention on Thursday to replace out-going leader Joe Schlies of the Denmark FFA.
Styer is attending the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities double majoring in Animal Science and Agriculture & Food Business Management. He plans to return to his family's dairy farm upon graduation.
"This week we have celebrated the accomplishments of many individuals and their chapters," Styer said upon being elected. "Now the challenge before each of us is to develop our leadership skills and selflessly serve as we go forward."
Other members of the newly elected 2021-22 state officer team include Katie Zimmer, Flambeau, vice president; Casey Denk, Mondovi, vice president; Amara Livingston, Cochrane-Fountain City, parliamentarian; Mia Hillebrand, River Valley, secretary; Aubrey Schlimgen, Marshall, sentenel; Emily Dahlke, Adams-Friendship, treasurer; Lydia Rasmussen, Pulaski, vice president; Lashawna Vogel, Denmark, reporter; Sydney Bender, Big Foot, vice president.
Also on Thursday, the Waupaca FFA was named the winner of the National Chapter Award--an elite honor that the program has received for 14 of the past 20 years.
The annual conference was attended by nearly 3,000 students, family and supporters. All of the events took place at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison.
