The University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Arlington Agricultural Research Station will host two informative field days this August, offering attendees insights into organic agriculture, crop research, and soil science. Both events are free and open to the public, taking place at the station located at N633 Hopkins Road near Arlington, Wisconsin.
The UW Organic Agriculture Research Field Day is scheduled for Monday, August 26, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Hosted by the Organic Grain Resource and Information Network (OGRAIN), this event will showcase the latest advancements in organic farming systems.
Topics include reduced-tillage practices for corn and soybeans, emerging specialty crops, food-grade grains, on-farm soil health studies, and the use of biocontrol agents. The field day is ideal for certified organic farmers, those exploring organic certification, and producers interested in soil health, cover crops, and diversified markets. The UW Agronomy and Soils Field Day will take place on Tuesday, August 27, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The morning includes four tractor-led field tour stops focusing on crop management techniques, manure nutrient use, pest control, and innovations in forage systems.
A lunch will be available for purchase, followed by a drone demonstration session. Field tours begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. Registration is available at: go.wisc.edu/agronomysoilsfd.
