WI soybeans - Rock county leads at 5.05M bushels

In 2023, Rock County emerged as Wisconsin's leading soybean producer, harvesting an impressive 5.05 million bushels, as reported by the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Following closely were Dane (5.02 million), Dodge (4.92 million), Grant (4.63 million), and Lafayette (3.86 million), securing the top positions in soybean production across the state.

Statewide, thirteen counties achieved an average yield of at least 55.0 bushels per acre, showcasing the robust soybean cultivation in Wisconsin. Grant County claimed the top spot with the highest yield, boasting an average of 64.7 bushels per acre. Noteworthy performers included Lafayette (63.2), Dodge (60.1), Fond du Lac (58.9), and Columbia (58.9), forming the top five counties with the most exceptional soybean yields.

In contrast, Forest County reported the lowest average yield at 28.8 bushels per acre. Yields were calculated by dividing a county's production by its harvested area, with rankings based solely on published estimates. This comprehensive overview highlights the diverse soybean production landscape in Wisconsin, emphasizing the significant contributions of various counties to the state's agricultural output.
