Wisconsin Farm Bureau members achieved national recognition at the American Farm Bureau Federation's 106th Convention. Brad Olson, a crop farmer from Polk County, was elected to a one-year term on the AFBF Board of Directors.
Olson, who was elected to the WFBF Board in 2022 and became WFBF President in 2023, farms over 600 acres with his wife, Vicky.
The Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation itself received two prestigious awards. The Pinnacle Award, the highest honor for state Farm Bureaus, recognized WFBF's excellence in member programs and membership achievements.
This award reflects outstanding work in advocacy, coalitions and partnerships, engagement and outreach, and leadership and business development.
WFBF also earned the New Horizon Award for its innovative "Gather Wisconsin" program. This series of resources, including blog posts, recipes, a magazine, and member activities, connects consumers with the farmers who produce their food.
Additionally, Dunn County Farm Bureau members Ben and Hally Sand concluded their two-year term on the AFBF's Young Farmers and Ranchers (YF&R) Committee.
The Sands, who farm near Menomonie, grow various crops, including rye, corn, soybeans, sweet corn, and pumpkins.
The 16-member national YF&R Committee is responsible for program planning and coordinating events like the YF&R competitive events and the Harvest for All program at the AFBF Annual Convention.
