Farmers and livestock producers in western Wisconsin are encouraged to take part in a Corn Silage Whole Plant Dry Down event scheduled for Friday, September 12.
The session will run from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at A&J Agronomy, located at 503 N. Freedom Street in Fall Creek.
The dry down event offers growers a valuable chance to check the moisture content of their corn silage, helping them determine the ideal harvest timing. Proper moisture levels are essential to ensure high-quality feed, maximize nutritional value, and maintain animal health throughout the feeding season.
Attendees are asked to bring either four whole corn plants or a pre-chopped sample for testing. To make participation easier, on-site chopping services will be available during the event. By analyzing these samples, farmers can make more informed decisions about when to harvest their fields, ultimately improving feed efficiency and reducing waste.
This local Extension-led initiative is designed to provide timely, practical support to area producers as harvest season approaches. For further details or questions, farmers are encouraged to contact the Extension office directly at 715-726-7950.
