Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers delivered a radio address on October 9, 2023, highlighting his administration's efforts to support the state's dairy and agricultural industries.
Evers began his address by noting that Wisconsin is home to nearly 6,000 dairy farms, more than any other state. He also said that the dairy industry contributes $45.6 billion annually to the Wisconsin economy.
Evers said that he has made supporting Wisconsin's dairy and agricultural industries one of his highest priorities. He pointed to his signing of legislation to support initiatives that advance the state's agricultural export program and bolster the long-term viability of the dairy industry.
Evers also said that his 2023-25 budget includes significant investments in the Dairy and Meat Processor Grant Programs, DATCP's farmers mental health assistance programming, and producer-led watershed and conservation efforts.
Evers concluded his address by saying that Wisconsin's dairy industry is part of the state's DNA and that it is an essential part of the state's economy and future. He said that his administration will continue to work to support farmers, agricultural industries, and rural communities.
