Wisconsin Potato Growers - Nominate for Board Seats

By Blake Jackson

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) is currently accepting nominations for three positions on the Wisconsin Potato Industry Board.

Nominations are open until March 28, 2025, for seats in Districts 1, 2, and At-Large. Eligible potato growers in these districts can either nominate someone or be nominated themselves.

Growers should receive nomination forms by mail, but those who do not may request them by emailing DATCP’s Market Orders program at DATCPMarketOrders@wisconsin.gov.

To nominate someone, the form must include signatures from at least five eligible potato growers from the district in which the nominee is running. Additionally, the nominee must complete a Declaration of Eligibility found on the form.

All completed forms must be postmarked by March 28, 2025, and mailed to: Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, Market Order Program, P.O. Box 8911, Madison, WI 53708-8911.

The positions available represent the following counties:

  • District 1: Covers a wide area, including Ashland, Barron, Bayfield, and many others in northern and central Wisconsin.
  • District 2: Includes Marathon, Outagamie, Portage, and nearby counties.
  • At-Large: Open to potato producers from all over the state.

The election will take place from May 12 to June 16, 2025. Elected board members will serve from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2028.

The board manages over $2 million in annual assessments to support research, marketing, and consumer education for the state’s potato industry.
