Wisconsinites Appointed to National Soybean Board

U.S. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue has named 43 growers to the United Soybean Board, including three from Wisconsin.

Nancy Kavazanjian of Beaver Dam and Tony Mellenthin from Eau Galle were re-elected to the panel, along with newcomer Sara Stelter of Wautoma. Each will serve a three-year term starting in December.

The 73-member board is authorized by the Soybean Promotion, Research, and Consumer Information Act. Perdue selected the appointees from soybean producers nominated by Qualified State Soybean Boards.

The mandatory program is funded at the rate of one-half of one percent of the net market price of the soybeans purchased.
