Solid communication skills have never been more important for personal and professional success. Sessions at the 2023 Business Conference presented by Professional Dairy Producers (PDPW) will give young dairy enthusiasts the opportunity to learn and practice critical communications skills that will serve them well in school and careers – no matter what field they choose.
Michael Hoffman, author, speaker and founder of Dallas-based Igniting Performance will facilitate the Youth Leadership sessions, in addition to serving as emcee of the 2023 Business Conference. He will bring his high-energy, interactive style to the programs designed for teens ages 15 to 18.
The 2023 Business Conference will be held March 15-16 at the Kalahari Resorts in Wisconsin Dells. Dairy's premier educational event will feature nearly 60 keynote, break-out, hands-on and other sessions. Students participating in the leadership program will also be able to attend all other conference sessions.
"Not only do teens get the chance to participate in sessions specifically geared toward them, they can also participate in other Business Conference sessions," said Cassandra Strupp, PDPW program manager. "In fact, they'll be able to use the techniques they learn on Wednesday to actively engage in the other sessions they attend. They'll learn strategies to talk with other people, ask insightful questions of presenters while rubbing shoulders with the best and brightest in the industry."
The program will feature two segments on Day One of the conference, giving teens the opportunity to practice and refine their communications skills throughout the conference.
The first session, "Handshake School," will run from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. on March 15, focusing on how influential a first impression is. Hoffman will illustrate how one's presence, conversations and ability to ask intelligent questions, along with a confident handshake, work together to make an impression.
"Understand how to connect with other human beings" will run as a follow-up session later that day to help teens recognize how they impact other people while equipping them with the tools to purposefully do so. Hoffman will illustrate the importance of people-to-people interactions and share examples to set them apart in interpersonal relationships.

The two-day event will also feature an expanded Hall of Ideas and Equipment show, Preview Stage of the latest dairy industry research, and the Nexus® stage with cutting edge dairy innovations and technologies.
Sessions at the 2023 Business Conference will be simultaneously translated into Spanish.
