Tanner Pedretti has been honored as the third-ever Premier Scholar by the Wisconsin Rural Opportunities Foundation, Inc.
Pedretti is a 2022 graduate of De Soto High School, where he grew up on a 600-acre beef farm. He is attending the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse to study physical therapy.
"WROF is thrilled to award this scholarship to Tanner Pedretti. Tanner wants to return to rural Wisconsin upon graduation from college and rural Wisconsin needs his abilities and drive," said WROF President Joan Behr. "Our scholarship will allow him to focus on his studies, earn his bachelor's degree, and not worry about how he will finance his education"
In addition to Pedretti's award, his high school also received a grant to be applied to a STEM or agricultural project benefiting all students enrolled in the school.
Meanwhile, WROF also honored four Board Scholars. they include Abagail Diehl, studying civil engineering at UW-Platteville; Clare Fritsche, majoring in environmental science at UW-Madison; Aaron Goebel, pursuing a masters degree in public health at the University of Minnesota; and Lyndsey Roum, attending UW-Platteville majoring in agribusiness.
