The Wisconsin Pork Association, in partnership with UW-Extension, will host the next session of the Wisconsin Swine Health Series on September 23, 2025. The event will be held at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Pioneer Farm Ag Technology Center, located at 29200 College Farm Road in Platteville.
This seminar will focus on Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS), one of the most significant challenges facing pork producers. The evening begins with supper at 5:30 p.m., followed by the seminar from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. All pork producers and industry stakeholders are encouraged to attend.
Research from Iowa State University shows that PRRS is the most costly disease in the U.S. pork industry, with estimated losses of $1.2 billion in 2024 alone. Dr. Brent Pepin from the National Pork Board will lead the session, covering prevention, treatment, and elimination strategies.
Attendees will gain valuable, science-based knowledge and hear practical insights from producers who have managed the disease directly.
“It’s crucial to give our producers opportunities to advance their knowledge to help them make decisions to achieve their operation’s greatest potential and profitability,” said Jeff Morris, UW-Extension Swine Outreach Specialist. He added that collaborations like this also support the Wisconsin Pork Association’s mission of strengthening and protecting the state’s pork industry.
